FAQs

  • How can The Possibility Centre help me?

I will typically speak with people via phone or email first to get a sense of whether I can be helpful. If we decide to speak further then I will schedule a meeting with you to go through the details of your injury or illness and to determine what the next steps might be. If appropriate, I will continue to work with you or your family to coach and support you through the recovery process. In some cases I may get you in touch with a different service provider who may be more appropriate.

It should be noted that coaching and rehabilitation consulting are not modalities for treating psychological or physical disorders. The individuals associated with The Possibility Centre are not psychologists or physicians. If upon assessment, or if it is determined later that an individual requires mental health services or medical care, they will be advised to consult a licensed mental health professional or a medical doctor.

  • How much do your services cost?

Please contact me via email or phone to discuss this further. Costs can vary depending on the service being requested.

  • How many sessions do I need?

This is very difficult to say. Typically, people will come to 4-6 sessions however some people will only have two sessions to get what they need. I will also refer to other service providers as it may be more appropriate for where the person is at in their recovery.

  • Are you covered by insurance?

If you have an active claim with an insurance company then my services may be covered.

  • What if I don’t live in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Canada?

I would be happy to talk with you via video conferencing (zoom, Skype or Facetime). I may not be as familiar with the professionals in your area but I could direct you to the type of services provider that may be of assistance.

  • What type of people do you work with?

I work with all people. Anyone who needs assistance with his or her own recovery or the recovery of a loved one is welcome to call or contact me via email.

  • I am feeling overwhelmed by the insurance company that I am dealing with. Can you help with that?

I have worked with various insurance companies over that past 20 years including, WCB, MPI, HEB, MTS, Blue Cross, GWL, Manulife, Sunlife and WCEB. Each company has their own policies and so I am aware of how confusing it can be to make sense of it all. I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

  • What is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology started in 1998 and was founded by Dr. Martin Seligman. He defines it as “the scientific study of optimal human functioning. It aims to discover and promote the factors that allow individuals and communities to thrive”.

Based on his research, he concluded there are 5 elements of well being, including positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning and accomplishment. Just recently he has also acknowledged a 6th element, vitality.

Positive Psychology often gets a “bad rap” for being annoyingly optimistic, however this field of study has always been focused on the whole being and understands that negative emotions and experiences are part of life.
